Randolph-Macon Blanks Emory & Henry Men's Tennis, 9-0, Sunday Afternoon

Emory, Va. - The Emory & Henry men's tennis team (1-11, 0-7 ODAC) fell, 9-0, to Randolph-Macon College (8-2, 4-2 ODAC) Sunday afternoon.  The team is still looking for their first ODAC win of the season.

John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) continue to play hard at the one doubles spot.  The two fought, but ended up losing 8-5.  Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Liam Davidson (Newport News, Va.) went down 8-1 at two doubles.  Andrew McClung (Roanoke, Va.) and James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) were shutout 8-0 at three doubles.

Ferguson played in a strong match at one singles, as he took his opponent to three sets.  The junior did end up losing, however, 2-6, 7-5, 10-8.  Aliev lost at two 6-2, 6-1, while Funkhouser went down 6-2, 6-0.  Davidson fell, 6-0, 6-1.  McClung was not able to pull a victory, losing, 6-1, 6-0.  Watson-Dare lost, 6-0, 6-0, to round out the match for the Wasps.

Emory & Henry plays again on Saturday, April 16 at Ferrum College at 12:30 p.m.
