Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Wins First Match Of The Season, 9-0, Over Johnson, Saturday Afternoon

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry men's tennis team (1-0, 0-0 ODAC) swept Johnson University (0-2, 0-0), 9-0, on Saturday afternoon to earn a victory for their first match of the season. The 9-0 victory is the first sweep since September 23, 2014.

Doubles
-Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) made quick work of their opponents at one doubles, 8-0
-John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) won at two doubles, 8-4
-Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) and Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) earn the victory in a walkover

Singles
-Ferguson took a 6-1, 6-1 victory at one singles
-Aliev earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory at two singles
-At three singles, Funkhouser won, 6-1, 6-2
-Shipley was tested, but won, 6-4, 7-5
-James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) won, 6-2, 6-0
-McCarty won in a walkover
