E&H Women's Tennis Dominates Guilford College, 8-1, As Men Fall to Quakers, 9-0, Saturday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team 5-8 (2-4 ODAC) picked up their second straight victory on Saturday afternoon. The win is also the team's second ODAC win. The Wasps defeated Guilford College (1-10, 0-7 ODAC), 8-1. The men's team (2-10, 0-4 ODAC) did not have such luck versus Guilford's men (7-5, 5-2 ODAC). They lost 9-0.

WOMEN

Doubles
-Liz Graham (Bristol, Va.) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) faced a tough pair, but came out on top with an 8-6 win.
- At two doubles, Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) defeated their opponents, 8-5.
-At three doubles, Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) continued their winning ways as a duo with an 8-4 victory.

Singles
-Riner unfortunately did not pick up a victory at one singles. She lost, 6-2, 6-4.
-The Wasps were able to pick it back up starting at two singles. Graham dispatched her opponent, 6-4, 6-0.
-Summers won, 6-2, 6-1, at three singles.
-Pierce made quick work of her counterpart at four singles in a 6-1, 6-1 win.
-Meade won 6-3, 6-0.
-And Sheaves continued her domination in singles play winning, 6-1, 6-0.

MEN

Doubles
-Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.) fell at one doubles, 8-2.
-John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) played strong, but lost, 8-5, at two doubles.
-Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) and James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) also lost, 8-1.

Singles
-Ferguson took a 6-1, 7-5 loss at one singles.
-Aliev was unable to win at two singles, falling 6-0, 6-3.
-At three singles, Funkhouser went down, 6-2, 6-3.
-Shipley suffered a 6-0, 6-2 loss at four singles.
-McCarty went down, 6-3, 6-1.
-Watson-Dare was shut out, 6-0, 6-0, at six singles.

-Both Wasps teams will host Shenandoah on April 8th at Richardson Tennis Courts.
