E&H Women's Tennis Picks Up 6-3 Win at Virginia Wesleyan, As Men Drop Match To Marlins, 9-0, Friday Evening

NORFOLK, Va. - The Emory & Henry women's tennis team 7-9 (4-4 ODAC) picked up their fourth ODAC victory in five matches, Friday Evening. The Wasps jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after doubles, and picked up four more in singles. The men's team (3-12, 1-6 ODAC), however, were not so fortunate after being shut out, 9-0.

WOMEN

Doubles
-Liz Graham (Bristol, Va.) and Lauren Riner (Coeburn, Va.) faced a tough pair, but wound up losing, 8-6, at one doubles.
- At two doubles, Savanna Summers (Bluff City, Tenn.) and Bri Pierce (Purlear, N.C.) defeated their opponents, 8-5.
-At three doubles, Kaitlyn Sheaves (Staunton, Va.) and Katie Meade (Coeburn, Va.) also picked up an 8-5 victory at three doubles.

Singles
-Riner went down, 6-2, 6-1, at one singles.
-It took Graham three sets, but she dispatched her opponent 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.
-Summers was unable to get a victory in singles play, as she was defeated, 6-2, 4-6, 10-4.
-Pierce was able to get a win, beating her opponent, 7-5, 6-2, at four singles.
-Meade won in dominant fashion, 6-1, 6-0.
-And Sheaves won at six singles, 6-4, 6-3.

MEN

Doubles
-John Dalton Ferguson (Gate City, Va.) and Grayson McCarty (Marion, Va.) went down at one doubles, 8-3.
-Kamil Aliev (Moscow, RUSSIA) and Dalton Shipley (Gate City, Va.) fell, 9-7, in an exciting match.
-Luke Funkhouser (Gate City, Va.)  and Cooper Garrett (Gate City, Va.) also lost, 8-2.

Singles
-Ferguson took a 6-2, 6-0 loss at one singles.
-Aliev did not do too well at the two spot, losing, 6-1, 6-0.
-At three singles, Funkhouser went down, 6-3, 6-3.
-Shipley suffered a 6-1, 6-3 loss at four singles.
-McCarty, at five singles, lost 6-3, 6-2.
-James Watson-Dare (Charlotte, N.C.) was defeated, 6-1, 6-3, at six singles.
