Emory & Henry Men's Tennis Sweeps Guilford, 7-0, To Open The Spring Saturday

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (3-2) got its spring season underway on Saturday with a victory over former Old Dominion Athletic Conference rival Guilford College (0-1). The Wasps swept the Quakers for the 7-0 victory.

How It Happened
- E&H won the doubles portion of the match to jump in front 1-0. Freshman Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) and sophomore Juan Alvarez (Metepec, MEXICO) combined for the 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles while sophomore Branson Smith (Fletcher, N.C.) and freshman James Smith (Brentwood, Tenn.) were victorious at No. 3 doubles by a 6-1 scoreline.
- Branson Smith was once again victorious, this time at No. 1 singles 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-3), while Parhar dispatched his opponent at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-1. Alvarez took No. 3 singles 6-3, 6-3 and freshman Diego Alvarez (Bogotá, COLOMBIA) won his match at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-4. James Smith won No. 5 singles 7-5, 6-4 and fifth-year Brandon McGuire (Christiansburg, Va.) completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
