Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Falls In A Pair Of SAC Matches Tuesday & Wednesday

EMORY, Va./HICKORY, N.C. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (4-5, 0-3 SAC) dropped South Atlantic Conference matches to Catawba College (1-1, 1-0 SAC) and Lenoir-Rhyne University (4-7, 2-0 SAC) on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, respectively. The Catawba Indians took the match 5-2 and the Bears won by a 6-1 scoreline.

The Catawba Match
- E&H took the doubles point to jump ahead 1-0. Freshman Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) teamed up with sophomore Juan Alvarez (Metepec, MEXICO) for the 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles. The No. 3 doubles team of sophomore Branson Smith (Fletcher, N.C.) and fifth-year Brandon McGuire (Christiansburg, Va.) combined for the 6-3 win.
- Juan Alvarez took his match at No. 3 singles by a 7-6, 3-6, 10-8 scoreline. Parhar dropped a close 4-6, 7-6(2) decision at No. 2 singles and freshman Diego Alvarez (Bogota, COLOMBIA) won the opening set of his match at No. 4 singles before falling 6-4, 0-6, 0-6.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Match
- Parhar and Juan Alvarez were victorious once more at the No. 1 doubles position by a 6-3 tally, but the Bears took the other two doubles matches to win the doubles point.
- Parhar earned another victory at No. 2 singles, as he dispatched his opponent 7-6(7-1), 6-4.

Up Next
- Emory & Henry returns home this Friday to take on the Eagles of Ashland University in non-conference action. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
