Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Comes Up Short To Catawba And Mount Olive Sunday Afternoon

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-6, 0-2 SAC) dropped a pair of matches to Catawba College (3-2, 2-0 SAC) and the University of Mount Olive (6-1) Sunday afternoon. The Wasps fell to the Catawba Indians and Trojans by 5-2 margins.

FINAL SCORE - Catawba 5, Emory & Henry 2

The Catawba Match
- Catawba swept the doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Sophomore Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) defeated Catawba's Edoardo Cecere at No.1 singles by a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 scoreline.
- Sophomore Diego Alvarez (Bogota, COLOMBIA) took down Luca Ricciardi 8-2 at the No. 6 singles position.
- Freshman Will Bayliss (Totland, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND) forced the match to a third set, but fell by a 0-6, 7-6, 4-6 final score.

The Mount Olive Match
- The doubles team of Bayliss and Alvarez combined for a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles, but the Trojans took the other two doubles matches to jump ahead 1-0.
- Parhar cruised by Kristoffer Dalbak in straight sets by a 6-3, 6-3 score at No. 1 singles.
- Two matches were unfinished due to time constraints.

- Emory & Henry is back in action on Wednesday, March 13 when the Wasps travel to take on Lincoln Memorial University. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Harrogate, Tennessee.
