Emory & Henry Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision To Southwest Virginia Rival UVA Wise

WISE, Va. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-14, 0-8 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (3-12, 1-7 SAC) dropped matches to Southwest Virginia rival the University of Virginia's College at Wise in South Atlantic Conference play Monday afternoon. The Cavaliers took each match by a 5-2 scoreline.

Women's Match
- The Cavaliers took all three doubles matches to jump ahead 1-0 after the doubles portion.
- Senior Emma Charlton (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) dispatched Lucy Cunliffe 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
- Sophomore Katie Bradley (Auchterarder, SCOTLAND) took down Amelia Monteith in three sets at No. 5 singles by a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 final score.
- Junior Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) suffered a tough 6-4, 2-6, 5-7 decision at No. 1 singles.

Men's Match
- UVA Wise won all three doubles matches to clinch the point and take a 1-0 lead.
- Sophomore Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) defeated Yi-Hsuan Chen at No. 1 singles by a 6-4, 6-4 margin.
- Junior Branson Smith (Fletcher, N.C.) made quick work of Daniel Gonzalez Garza at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2.

- The Wasps return to action Tuesday, April 2 when they host the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University in a match rescheduled due to rain. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. from the Ida Jones Tennis Center in Bristol, Tennessee.
