No. 29 Nationally-Ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Men’s Tennis Tops Emory & Henry In SAC Play

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-15, 0-9 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (3-13, 1-8 SAC) fell to Lenoir-Rhyne University in South Atlantic Conference play Tuesday afternoon at the Ida Jones Tennis Center. The Bears' men's team earned a 6-1 win while the women's squad defeated the Wasps 7-0.

Men's Match
- The doubles partnership of junior Branson Smith (Fletcher, N.C.) and freshman Will Bayliss (Totland, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND) took down their opponents at No. 3 doubles by a 6-2 margin. The Bears won the other two flights to earn the doubles point.
- Sophomore Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) won his fifth consecutive match at No. 1 singles, defeating Nevio Dux 6-2, 6-2.
- Smith dropped a 2-6, 5-7 decision at No. 2 singles to Zachary Cox.

Women's Match
- The duo of sophomore Natalie Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and senior Emma Charlton (Newcastle upon Tyne, ENGLAND) fell in a tiebreaker at No. 1 singles by a narrow 6-7 (4-7) scoreline. The Bears won all three doubles matches to take the 1-0 lead.
- Charlton came up just short in three sets to Runa Muderrisoglu by a 6-3, 1-6, 0-1 (5-10) score at No. 1 singles.
- Bergmann was defeated 2-6, 2-6 by Alicia Wahlberg at the No. 2 singles position.
- Sophomore Nina Williams (Fleet, ENGLAND) dropped a 2-6, 2-6 decision to Claudia Orsini at No. 3 singles.

- Emory & Henry is back in action on Saturday, April 6 when the Wasps host the Trojans of Anderson (S.C.) University. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. from the Ida Jones Tennis Center.
