No. 29 Tusculum Men’s Tennis Gets By Emory & Henry, 4-2, Sunday Afternoon

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - The Emory & Henry College Men's Tennis Team (2-18, 0-12 SAC) and Women's Tennis Team (3-16, 1-11 SAC) came up short in each team's season finale against nationally-ranked Tusculum University Sunday afternoon. The No. 29 Pioneers men's team won by a 4-2 margin while the No. 40 women's team topped the Wasps by a 4-0 final score.

Men's Match
- The Wasps put up a battle in each match of the doubles portion. The duo of junior Branson Smith (Fletcher, N.C.) and freshman Will Bayliss (Totland, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND) routed their opponents 6-1 at No. 3 doubles. The team of sophomore Kartik Parhar (Ludhiana, INDIA) and freshman Niclas Naedele (Munich, GERMANY) fell at No. 1 doubles 6-7. Freshman Nathan Spurling (Abingdon, Va.) and sophomore Diego Alvarez (Bogota, COLOMBIA) dropped a 6-7 (4-7) decision at No. 2 doubles.
- Parhar won at No. 1 singles over Will Gee in a match that was retired with Parhar leading 3-0 in the first set.
- Smith outlasted Ivan Ivars in three sets at No. 2 singles for a big 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) victory.
- Alvarez lost a tough three-set decision to Felipe Velasquez Quintana at No. 6 singles by a 3-6, 6-0, 1-6 final score.

Women's Match
- The Pioneers earned the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles while the No. 1 doubles match was left unfinished with senior Emma Charlton (Newcastle upon Tyne, ENGLAND) and sophomore Natalie Bergmann (Forest Hills, N.Y.) trailing 3-5.
- Sophomore Katie Bradley (Auchterarder, SCOTLAND) fell by a 4-6, 1-6 scoreline to Thilda Danielsson at No. 4 singles.
- Bergmann dropped her match to Ylva Frafjord Landa 3-6, 0-6 at No. 2 singles.
- Two matches were left unfinished while one was counted as a no result due to time constraints and playing to clinch.

- With the conclusion of the 2023-24 regular season, Emory & Henry will await the announcement of All-SAC Teams.
