Milligan Men’s Tennis Tops Emory & Henry In Non-Conference Play

EMORY, Va. - The Emory & Henry University Men's Tennis Team (0-1) and Women's Tennis Team (0-1) opened up the 2024 fall season with a pair of losses to Milligan University Saturday afternoon. The Milligan men's team topped the Wasps 4-1 while the women's squad defeated E&H 4-2.

Men's Match
- The doubles team of junior Diego Alvarez (Bogota, COLOMBIA) and sophomore Will Bayliss (Totland, Isle of Wight, ENGLAND) teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Milligan won the other two doubles matches for a 1-0 advantage.
- Sophomore Niclas Naedele (Munich, GERMANY) bested Matias Curlej 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position to earn the Wasps their lone point of the match. 

Women's Match
- The partnership of senior Sabina Chernega (Odesa, UKRAINE) and freshman Tahnne Sesma (Zumaia, SPAIN) were victorious at No. 1 doubles by a 6-2 margin, but the Buffaloes took wins at the No. 2 and No.3 positions to take the 1-0 lead.
- Chernega defeated Lee Anne Endler 7-6 (9-7), 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
- Sophomore Olivia Pursley (Hendersonville, N.C.) topped Trinity Fox by a 0-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) margin at No. 5 singles.

- The Wasps will wrap up the 2024 fall season on Thursday, October 10 when they travel to take on the Cougars of Averett University. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Danville, Virginia.
