Emory & Henry Track & Field Breaks Five Records At The Lee Invitational Saturday

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Track & Field Teams got the 2022 outdoor season started on Saturday at the Lee Invitational. The women's team saw three school records fall while the men's team broke two program bests during the day's competition.

Top Men's Performances
- Freshman Hayden Oglesby (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished 16th in the 200 meters at :23.25. Freshman Zedrick Yeboah (Fredericksburg, Va.) was 17th just .22 seconds back. Yeboah was 12th in the 400 meters, running a :52.22 as Oglesby was 16th (:52.63).
- In the 5,000 meters, freshman Matthew Klapak (Zion Crossroads, Va.) carved 30 seconds off the previous E&H best, going a 16:29.71.
- Freshman Gavin Lee (North Tazewell, Va.) put up a new record in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.57 meters (sixth). He was also sixth in the discus (41.06 meters).
- In the shot put, freshman Zavery Wallace (Buena Vista, Va.) and freshman Zadok Laryea (Ruther Glen, Va.) were third and seventh, respectively with throws of 14.24 and 12.44 meters.

Women's Top Performances
- Freshman Michelle Diaz (Woodbridge, Va.) broke a pair of school records as she finished 13th in the 400 meters (1:05.13) and 19th in the 200 meters (:27.99). Freshman Chloe Jones (Harrison, Tenn.) was 17th and 24th in the 400 and 200, respectively.
- Sophomore Annalyse McHone (Shawsville, Va.) clocked a 20:08.00 in the 5,000 meters for a new school record as she took 25th.
- In the throws, freshman Avery Word (Fincastle, Va.) had a trio of top-10 finishes. She was sixth in the discus (29.37m), seventh in the shot put (9.95m) and ninth in the hammer throw (20.12m). Freshman Beverley Vedder (Virginia Beach, Va.) notched two ninths in the javelin (19.01m) and the discus (21.65m).
