Emory & Henry’s Kevin Watts Named ODAC Men’s Cross Country Runner Of The Week

FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College senior Kevin Watts been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It is the first time that an E&H runner has won weekly league honors since 2013.

The Stafford, Virginia, native led the Wasps to a third-place finish at the Piedmont Invitational coming in fourth overall. Watts covered the Tallulah Falls Farm Course's 8K layout in 29:16. It is the first time this year that Watts has led the team after running second in E&H's three previous meets.

The last time an Emory & Henry runner was named ODAC Runner of the Week was in week seven of the 2013 season. Then-freshman Alex Cooper (Christiansburg, Va.) ran a 28:16 at the Royals Cross Country Challenge.

Emory & Henry's next competition will be on Saturday, October 29 at the 2016 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. The meet will take place at the Buena Vista Links Golf Course in Buena Vista, Virginia, hosted by Washington and Lee University.
