Caley Hodge Named ODAC Softball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Caley Hodge has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time since the 2013 season that a Wasp has earned weekly league honors.

The freshman from Elizabethton, Tenn., led the Wasps to a 6-0 week at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Cape Coral, Florida, picking up a trio of shutout wins in the process.

Hodge went 8-for-15 (.533) at the plate in five games with five home runs, including a grand slam. She also recorded 14 RBI, a .588 on-base percentage and 1.600 slugging percentage.

In the final game of the tournament against Elms College, Hodge went three-for-four at the plate, blasting a pair of home runs including a fifth-inning grand slam which put E&H up 13-0. She also went two-for-three with a home run, three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases against Dominican (Ill.) University. She was also two-for-two with a home run, a double, four RBI and two runs scored against the University of Minnesota-Morris.

Hodge has played in five of E&H's six games so far this season. She leads the team in runs (nine), home runs (five), RBI (14) and slugging (1.600). She has a season average of .533, an on-base percentage of .588 and two stolen bases to her credit. Hodge currently leads the ODAC in home runs.

Emory & Henry will host Greensboro College on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., for a non-conference doubleheader.
