LYNCHBURG, Va. –Emory & Henry College sophomore designated player Caley Hodge has been named to the 2016 VaSID All-State College Division Softball Second Team. It is the first time in her collegiate career that Hodge has earned All-State honors.

It is the first time since the 2013 season that an E&H player has been recognized by VaSID. That year, senior Ashley Ebersole and freshman Hannah Bays notched All-State Second Team accolades at catcher and third base, respectively.

Virginia Wesleyan College swept the major awards with Cassetty Howerin and Kandis Kresinske being named State Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. Kresinske was tabbed as the State Rookie of the Year while Marlin mentor Brandon Elliott was named State Coach of the Year.

The VaSID All-State teams are selected by sports information directors of member institutions of the Virginia Sports Information Directors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaSID, founded in 1983, selects teams in two divisions (University and College) for 12 sports and three single-division teams in addition to Academic All-State teams across all sports.
