Caley Hodge Named ODAC Softball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Caley Hodge has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time this season that a Wasp has earned weekly league honors. Hodge wins the award for the third time in her career.

The junior first baseman/designated player from Elizabethton, Tennessee led the Emory & Henry to a 5-1 record at the Space Coast Spring Training in Florida last week, as the Wasps picked up four wins against NAIA programs.

Hodge hit 9-for-15 (.600) with a .733 slugging average and a .700 on-base percentage. She notched a pair of doubles, five walks, four RBI and scored five runs on the week. Hodge had three multi-hit games including a 3-for-4 outing against Washington (Mo.) University. She also went 2-for-2 with three runs against Framingham State College and had pair of base hits, two RBI and a two walks in the Wasps' second game against the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.).

Emory & Henry (14-4) will begin ODAC competition on Saturday when it travels to face Eastern Mennonite University. First pitch in the doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
