LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Emory & Henry College has seen three members of its softball team named to the 2017 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Atlantic Region Teams. NFCA is the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The three all-region selections tie a program record dating back to the 2002 season when the Wasps also saw three players honored by the coaching organization.

Junior pitcher Emily Kendrick (Honaker, Va.) and junior first baseman Caley Hodge (Elizabethton, Tenn.) were tabbed to the All-Atlantic Region Second Team while shortstop Danielle Loving (Elizabethton, Tenn.) earned third-team accolades.

Kendrick went 20-9 on the year with five saves and a 1.78 earned run average. Her 20 wins, eight shutouts and 197 innings pitched are new Emory & Henry single-season records while her five saves tie the program-best mark. The All-ODAC First-Teamer also added 146 strikeouts and 20 complete games on the year.

Hodge batted a team-best .430 with a school-record .514 on-base percentage this year. She drew a record-tying 22 walks on the year with 64 hits and 45 RBI which are second on the single-season record books. The three-time all-league player also posted a .705 slugging percentage, adding 17 doubles and eight home runs.

Loving hit .362 on the year, tying the program record for home runs in a season with 12. She set a new program best with 163 at bats and added 59 hits, 36 RBI, a team-high 14 stolen bases. The All-ODAC First Team pick also scored a team-best 39 runs and boasted a 1.061 OPS (on-base plus slugging) for the season.

The last Emory & Henry player to be named all-region by the NFCA was Hannah Bays, who was honored as an All-Atlantic Third-Teamer in 2013.
