Emory & Henry Softball Blanks Cazenovia, 8-0, Sunday At Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team (9-2, 0-0 ODAC) got its seven-game Spring Break slate off to a start on Sunday morning with an 8-0 Run-Rule victory over Cazenovia College (0-1, 0-0 NEAC).

Emory & Henry 8, Cazenovia 0 (five innings)
- Emory & Henry opened the scoring in the top of the second with three runs highlighted by a double by sophomore catcher Alex Thomas (Orlando, Fla.) and a single by sophomore second baseman Lyndsay Boyd (Abingdon, Va.)
- Three runs in the third made the score 6-0 for the Wasps as they added two more in the fourth for an 8-0 advantage. Junior centerfielder Erin Anderson (Aylett, Va.) had a RBI single in the fourth.
- Freshman Alex Braun (Cornelius, N.C.) earned the win, striking out five in three innings of work. Freshman Hannah Morrison (Lebanon, Va.) pitched the final two innings of the game with three strikeouts of her own.
- Jessica Keller suffered the loss, allowing eight runs on five hits with two walks in four innings.
