Kendall Varner Named ODAC Softball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Kendall Varner has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the first time this season that a Wasp has earned weekly league honors.

The freshman outfielder/designated player from Bassett, Virginia led the Emory & Henry to a 7-0 record last week at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. She batted an even .500 (12-for-24) with a 1.417 on-base plus slugging percentage, boasting seven extra-base hits and 13 RBI.

Varner posted four multi-hit games on the week including a 3-for-4 outing against the University of St. Joseph (Conn.) in which she added five RBI and scored a run. She also went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run against Lycoming College. Varner capped the week with back-to-back two-hit games against Rutgers University-Camden and Wesley College.

Emory & Henry (16-2) is currently riding a nine-game winning streak and will return to action on Wednesday afternoon when it travels to face Averett University in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
