INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team holds the number seven spot in the first NCAA Division III Atlantic Region rankings of the season, NCAA officials announced late Thursday afternoon. E&H is one of four Old Dominion Athletic Conference schools ranked in the top nine regionally.

Emory & Henry (28-8, 9-5 ODAC) currently sits in a tie for third place in the ODAC with four games left to play this weekend. It is the fourth-straight ranking period that the Wasps have earned a regional ranking from the NCAA dating back to April 27, 2017.

Virginia Wesleyan University is the top team in the region this week with a 35-1 overall record. The Marlins are also the No. 1 ranked team in the country by the NFCA. Randolph-Macon College, the No. 4 team in the country, is second while Christopher Newport University rounds out the top three.

ODAC-rival Lynchburg College sits at eighth in the rankings with perennial contenders Emory University (fourth), Berry College (fifth) and Moravian College (sixth) taking up the middle. Birmingham-Southern College rounds out the field in ninth.

Emory & Henry will conclude the regular season this weekend with a pair of key ODAC and Atlantic Region doubleheaders. The Wasps will visit Lynchburg on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., before continuing the road trip to Virginia Beach to face off against top-ranked Virginia Wesleyan Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
