Anna Thomas Named ODAC Softball Player Of The Week

FOREST, Va. - Emory & Henry College's Anna Thomas has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday afternoon. It is the second time in as many weeks that a Wasp has been recognized by the league office.

The freshman left fielder from Climax, North Carolina led E&H to a 5-1 week last week hitting .526 (10-for-19) with eight runs scored, five doubles, six RBI and a stolen base. She posted a .571 on-base percentage and slugged .789.

Thomas had three multi-hit games as she went a combined five-for-seven with three runs and two RBI against Ferrum on Wednesday. Sunday at Guilford, she went four-for-six with four runs, four RBI, two doubles, and a stolen base.

For the year, Thomas leads the team in batting at .432 with 13 doubles, 24 runs scored, 17 RBI, seven stolen bases and five walks. Her on-base percentage of .468 is eight points off the team lead and she currently boasts a slugging average of .662.

Emory & Henry (21-11, 11-3 ODAC) is second in the conference two games ahead of third-place and No. 8 nationally-ranked University of Lynchburg. The Wasps will be back in action on Saturday when they visit the Eagles of Bridgewater College at 1:00 p.m.
