Emory & Henry Softball Sits 10th In This Week's NFCA Top 25 Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team is ranked 10th in NCAA Division III according to this week's National Fastpitch Coaches Association's latest poll which was released Wednesday morning. The Wasps fall one spot from their program high-water mark of No. 9 which was achieved last week.

E&H (23-5) finished second in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference regular season with a 13-3 record. Four of the Wasps' games were cancelled due to COVID concerns. Virginia Wesleyan University (31-5-1, 15-3) drops one spot nationally to No. 2 after losing two of their contests over the weekend. The Marlins finished first in league play. Also represented from the ODAC is No. 16 Randolph-Macon College (14-7-1, 6-4 ODAC), moving up one spot from a week ago.

Texas Lutheran University reaches the top of the poll as the new unanimous No. 1. Following VWU is T-No. 3 Birmingham-Southern College, T-No. 3 Eastern Connecticut State Univesity and No. 5 DePauw University. Previous Emory & Henry opponent Christopher Newport University remains No. 14 this week after previously being ranked as high as third earlier this season.

E&H will next compete in the 2021 ODAC Tournament Quarterfinal Series. The Wasps will host this weekend's action by virtue of their top-four finish in the league standings. The pairings for the tournament are expected to be released by the conference office later today.
