Emory & Henry Softball Tabbed 10th In SAC Preseason Coaches Poll

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team has been chosen 10th in the South Atlantic Conference this year by the league's head coaches. The poll was released by the SAC office on Wednesday.

Last year, Emory & Henry put up a 26-17 overall record as a Division II Independent. The Wasps notched 22 wins against Division II competition and picked up sweeps against SAC opponents in Mars Hill University and the University of Virginia's College at Wise. E&H also tallied two doubleheader sweeps against Lincoln (Pa.) University and then-Bluefield State College (now University) each with an additional sweep over Claflin University.

Anderson University, the reigning SAC Regular Season Champion is first in the poll with seven of 13 first-place votes. Last year's league tournament champion Lincoln Memorial University is second with three first-place votes while perennial region power Lenoir-Rhyne University is third with the remaining three top nods. The Trojans are ranked No. 14 by the NFCA in the preseason national poll, Lincoln Memorial is No. 20 while LR and Wingate University are receiving votes.

Emory & Henry will get the year started with five games at Flagler College's Old Coast Classic on the weekend of Friday, February 10 through Sunday, February 12. The Wasps will face off against Flagler, University of West Alabama, Eckerd College and Saint Leo University over the course of the weekend.
