EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Softball Team under the direction of first-year Head Coach Jake Cockerham will kick of the 2023 season on Friday at the Old Coast Classic hosted by Flagler College. These five games will begin a slate of 49 contests as the Wasps embark on their first season in the South Atlantic Conference.
E&H is no doubt prepared to take on this schedule as it established itself as one of the top NCAA Division III programs in the Atlantic Region over the past six years. The Wasps received three at-large berths to the Division III Tournament highlighted by a regional final appearance in 2021. Last year, Emory & Henry posted a 26-17 record, playing a largely Division II schedule.

The Wasps' schedule at the Old Coast Classic commences on Friday at 11:00 a.m., with a contest against host Flagler and continues at 1:30 p.m. against University of West Alabama. Saturday's action includes a matchup with Eckerd College (10:00 a.m.) and Saint Leo University (3:00 p.m.) while E&H concludes the tournament with another matchup against the Saint Leo Lions on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
Emory & Henry will play its first home doubleheader of the season on Saturday, February 18, hosting University of Mount Olive (1:00 p.m.). After a mid-week trip (Wed., Feb. 22) to Lincoln Memorial University to open SAC play, the Wasps welcome Shepherd University and Lees-McRae College on the weekend of Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25.
E&H continues its 12-game home stand on Wednesday, March 1 with a visit from Tusculum University (1:00 p.m.). Mars Hill University comes to town on Saturday, March 4 at 1:00 p.m. for another league matchup. The Wasps will also host Bluefield University (Thu., Mar. 9; 1:00 p.m.) and Wingate University (Sat., Mar. 11; 1:00 p.m.) to close out the stretch.
After traveling to Newberry College on Tuesday, March 14, Emory & Henry welcomes Southwest Virginia-rival, the University of Virginia's College at Wise on Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. A visit from another local foe in Concord University on Tuesday, March 21 (2:00 p.m.) closes a stretch where the Wasps play 16 of 18 games at home.
Next up is a month-long road trip beginning with a visit to Anderson (S.C.) University on Saturday, March 25. E&H ends the month of March at Coker University (Wed. 29). The first week of April sees the Wasps visit Catawba College (Sat., Apr. 1), Belmont Abbey College (Tue., Apr. 4) and Lees-McRae (Fri., Apr. 7).
The next week has road tests against Lenoir-Rhyne University (Wed., Apr. 12) and Carson-Newman University (Sat., Apr. 15) before a trip to Bluefield State University on Tuesday, April 18.
Emory & Henry closes the season with six straight home games. Milligan University comes to town on Friday, April 21 for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader while the final SAC doubleheader will be on Saturday, April 22 against Limestone University. The Wasps conclude the season on Saturday, April 29 against Bluefield State (1:00 p.m.).
