Tatum Harvel is entering her second year at Emory & Henry College and second year as a Student Assistant for the Softball Team. Harvel’s responsibilities include assisting with practice drills, charting, and occasional office duties.

While still in high school, Harvel earned her Associate’s Degree from Mountain Empire Community College. She graduated from MECC in the Top 10 of her class and earned Dean’s List recognition each semester. At Emory & Henry, Harvel plans to triple major in mass communications, religion and business. In addition to her role on the softball team, she is a member of the Cheer team and Spiritual Life.

Harvel attended Lee High School where she was a four-year varsity player in both softball and cheerleading. She served as a team captain in both sports and was selected as an All-Region Cheerleader. She also played club softball for the Shockers Organization under the direction of Mark Byington.

Outside of athletics, Harvel was the SGA Class President (four years), Lee High School and District 1 DECA Club President, a First Priority Leader, and a BETA club member. She also stays active with her Church youth group at Pennington Gap FUMC where she was the Youth Group president and a CCYM representative for the Holston Conference.

Harvel’s cousins Bill and Noah Sage each played collegiate football. Bill Sage played at Emory & Henry while Noah Sage plays for Virginia Tech.

When not living on campus, Harvel resides in Jonesville, Virginia with her parents Kelly and Erica Harvel.
