Sadie Martello is in her first year as Assistant Cross Country / Track & Field Coach Emory & Henry College where she specializes in coaching the middle distance and distance events. Prior to assuming her role at Emory & Henry, Coach Martello spent three years as the Head Cross Country and Track & Field coach at Chilhowie High School in Chilhowie, Virginia.

During her tenure at Chilhowie, Martello coached 16 athletes to all-state performances, including three state championships. Her 2023 Chilhowie High School girls’ outdoor track and field team won the VHSL 1D Region team title, placing fifth at the VHSL Class 1 State meet.

Hailing from Worland, Wyoming, Coach Martello established herself as a standout athlete in high school, earning six all-state honors in Cross Country and Track & Field, including three state championships in the 400m and 800m distances. Martello also held the Wyoming all-class girls State Indoor 800m record from 2013-2018.

Coach Martello continued her athletic career as a Student-Athlete at the University of Utah, where she competed at an elite level in both cross country and Track & Field, specializing in the middle distances. During her time at Utah she posted the school’s seventh fastest mile (4:52.92 ) and remains a member of the 3rd fastest outdoor DMR in school history.

Martello graduated from the University of Utah in 2019 with Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology along with a minor in Psychology, reflecting her commitment to a comprehensive understanding of sports science and the psychological aspects of athletic performance.

Coach Martello currently resides in Marion, Virginia, along with her husband, Chance.
