Hollins Women’s Basketball Gets Past Emory & Henry, 74-62, In ODAC Action Tuesday

ROANOKE, Va. – The Hollins University Basketball Team (1-3, 1-0 ODAC) picked up a 74-62 win in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play over Emory & Henry College (1-1, 0-1 ODAC) Tuesday evening.

Emory & Henry led for the majority of the first half and took a 32-31 advantage into the locker room. The Wasps were up by as much as seven at the 10:24 mark thanks to a 14-6 run that covered nearly five minutes.

Hollins came out in the second half on fire and got a 10-point lead at the 8:11 mark. E&H was able to cut the deficit to four with 66-62 with 2:15 to go, but the green-and-gold hung on for the 12-point victory.

The Wasps were led by senior forward Ashlyn Baird (Boone, N.C.) and sophomore guard Jalan McPherson (Jonesville, Va.) with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Freshman guard Valerie Beale (Greensboro, N.C.) had seven assists.

Hollins was led by Molly Tahmaseb with 18 points while Lacie Forest had 11 points and 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Jasmine Green chipped in 15 points, five assists and five steals and Chanci Wright and Lauren Morris each grabbed 10 boards.

Hollins out-rebounded Emory & Henry by a 55-46 margin and held a 27-18 advantage on the offensive glass.

Emory & Henry will return home to face the Quakers of Guilford College on Monday. The two teams will hit the hardcourt at 7:00 p.m.
