Hartwick Women’s Basketball Defeats Emory & Henry, 63-45, Saturday Afternoon

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Hartwick College Women's Basketball Team (4-0) picked up a 63-45 win over Emory & Henry College (1-1) Saturday afternoon in the championship game of the Jackie Ammons Memorial Tournament on the campus of William Peace University. Sophomore forward Karina Farr (Graham, Wash.) was named to the all-tournament team.

Sophomore guard Anna Green (Raleigh, N.C.) had a career-high 10 points, making two three-pointers, and added two assists. Sophomore center Amanda Stanley (Mooresville, N.C.) notched nine points and three boards while Farr registered seven points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Kristie Langley (Staley, N.C.) tallied seven points and six rebounds while sophomore guard Courtney Puckett (Bassett, Va.) dished out five assists.

Hartwick was paced by Brittney Dumas, who put up 18 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Kate Purcell had 14 points and four assists while Marla Foglia had 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds.

The contest featured seven ties and five lead changes. The Hawks shot 42.6 percent (20-for-47) for the game while the Wasps were just 14-for-43 (32.6%) from the field.

Emory & Henry will have its third game in three days tomorrow when it returns home for an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest against Virginia Wesleyan College. Tipoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
