Up by seven with two minutes to go it appeared as if the Wasps would claim the victory but they removed all doubt, closing the contest on a 9-3 run for the 75-62 win.

Sophomore guard Megan Jacoby (Richmond, Va.) was the Wasps' all-around leader, putting up 14 points, eight rebounds, six steals and five assists.

Junior forwards Karina Farr (Graham, Wash.) and Tamara Brewster (Morrow, Ga.) both had strong games as Farr notched 16 points, 11 rebounds and five assists while Brewster's night consisted of 17 points, seven boards and three steals. Senior guard Kristie Langley (Staley, N.C.) added 15 points on four three-pointers and had four rebounds.

Virginia Wesleyan's Kelly Jones scored a game-high 18 points off the bench, connecting on four shots from beyond the arc. Nancy Kelly had 12 points and five rebounds while Andrea Paphites chipped in nine points, five rebounds and three assists. Brittany Glasco added six points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals.

As a team, the Marlins managed just 23-for-66 (34.8%) shooting for the game and fell victim to 23 turnovers. VWC hit nine shots from beyond the arc; however 54 percent of their field goal attempts came from long range.
