DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Babson College Women's Basketball Team (7-1) withstood a fierce third-quarter rally to come away with a 61-59 overtime win against Emory & Henry College (6-3) Tuesday in the Daytona Beach Shootout.

How It Happened
- The two teams got off to a slow start, scoring a combined 18 points in the first period. With 17 turnovers, three ties and three lead changes, the contest was up in the air through the first 10 minutes.
- Both squads traded buckets to a 16-12 Emory & Henry lead at the 7:07 mark of the second quarter, but then Babson took control and finished the half on a 16-2 run to lead 28-18 at the intermission.
- In the third, the Wasps swarmed back into contention, putting up a 14-2 run over 5:24 to tie things up at 34 apiece. E&H would go ahead for the first time since early in the second with a three-pointer by sophomore guard Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) and took a 39-38 lead into the final period of regulation.
- The fourth quarter saw the two teams put points on the board in completely different manners. The Wasps scored nine of their 11 at the free throw line, shooting just one-for-10 from the field in the period while the Beavers went six-for-15 from the field (40%), forcing overtime on a basket with 27 seconds remaining. Emory & Henry had a chance to come away with the victory in normal time, but the shot was deflected and time expired.
- E&H had a pair of two point leads in the first two minutes of overtime, but the Beavers answered back with buckets of their own. Babson scored six of eight points over a 67-second span to go up 60-56, but Johnston struck for Emory & Henry with a three-pointer in the corner to cut the margin to one with two seconds left. The Wasps were able to foul before time ran out, but there was not enough remaining to put the potential game-winner in the air.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Senior guard Megan Jacoby (Richmond, Va.) put up a team-high 14 points and added five steals, three assists and two rebounds despite a four-for-11 shooting day.
- Sophomore forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) notched her third double-double of the year with 12 points and 12 rebounds while freshman forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) had eight points, three rebounds two blocks and two assists off the bench.
- Johnston, senior guard Asja Jenkins (Richmond, Va.) and freshman guard Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) had six points apiece with Williams adding eight rebounds.

Babson Individual Leaders
- Taylor Russell led all players with 17 points and added eight rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Beavers.
- Jennifer Narlee had nine points, 10 rebounds and six steals while Giovanna Pickering put up eight points, 11 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- Brenna LeGacy and Bianca Tomassini put up eight points each while LeGacy pulled down five rebounds.

A Deeper Look
- Babson shot 37.9 percent (25-for-66) from the floor but struggled at the free throw line, going 9-for-20 (45%) in the game. Emory & Henry hit just 19-of-63 (30.2%) of its field goal attempts, but kept itself in the game with an 80 percent (16-for-20) performance at the charity stripe.
- The Beavers posted a 48-45 rebounding advantage and used 15 offensive boards to lead 18-13 on second-chance points.
- Emory & Henry made the most off Babson's 24 turnovers, scoring 20 points while the Beavers turned 23 Wasp miscues into 15 points.
- Babson led 28-22 on points in the paint while E&H was more effective from beyond the arc, 15-6.
