EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (11-4, 5-1 ODAC) picked up a 74-67 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win Saturday afternoon over visiting Eastern Mennonite University (9-5, 4-3 ODAC). With the victory, the Wasps remain tied for second place in the league and sweep their season series against the Royals.

How It Happened
- The squads battled through four ties and two lead changes in the opening five minutes of play to a 9-9 deadlock. Emory & Henry scored five straight to go up 14-9, but Eastern Mennonite reeled the score back to 19-17 at the end of the first quarter.
- The Wasps scored the first 10 points of the second period to push their advantage to 29-17, but the Royals responded to trim the margin to five with a 9-2 run covering 2:38. E&H answered back to lead 42-31 at the intermission.
- EMU opened the third quarter with a 14-4 run to pull within one (46-45) with 4:06 on the clock. E&H would lead 54-48 with 10 minutes to go despite being outscored, 17-12, in the period.
- Emory & Henry kept a healthy but tenuous lead throughout the final quarter as Eastern Mennonite never got closer than five points. With a 10-point lead in going into the final minute, the Wasps managed to hold off a final surge by the Royals to win 74-67 despite only hitting four-of-eight free throws during the span.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Emory & Henry was paced in the scoring column by senior guard Megan Jacoby (Richmond, Va.) who had 21 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals. She hit four of her six attempts from long range, three in the second half, to give the Wasps a spark down the stretch.
- Senior guard Asja Jenkins (Richmond, Va.) had 15 points three assists and two steals as well while freshman guard Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) added 10 points, six rebounds and two assists.
- Sophomore forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) tacked on eight points and nine rebounds while freshman forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) notched nine points and six boards off the bench.
Eastern Mennonite Individual Leaders
- Jonae Guest put up game-highs in both scoring and rebounding with 22 points and 11 boards. She went 10-for-13 from the field and added an assist, a block and two steals.
- Chloe Roach has 13 points and five boards while Myneshia Walker contributed 12 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 43.1 percent (25-for-58) for the game and went 9-for-21 (42.9%) from three-point range. The Wasps also went 75% (15-for-20) from the free throw line.
- Eastern Mennonite made 25 of its 56 field goals attempts (44.6%) but was just 31.3% (5-for-13) from three. The Royals got to the line 19 times, converting 12 points (63.2%).
- The Wasps held a 38-31 rebounding advantage despite being outsized, and led 12-9 on the offensive glass. The two teams were an even 14-14 on second-chance points.
- EMU dominated the low post, outscoring E&H by a 41-28 margin on points in the paint.
- Emory & Henry assisted on 17 of its 25 made field goals, for a 68% assist rating.
