Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Outlasts Eastern Mennonite, 81-72, Saturday On The Road

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (14-5, 7-3 ODAC) saw 11 different players put their names in the scoring column as it picked up an 81-72 road win over Eastern Mennonite University (10-8, 5-5 ODAC) Saturday in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

How It Happened
- Emory & Henry opened up a 5-0 lead in the first minute and a half of the contest but Eastern Mennonite scored six in a row to go up 6-5 with 6:08 on the clock. The Wasps caught fire, finishing the period on a 17-4 for a 22-10 advantage.
- The Royals began to chip away at the deficit, getting to within four (28-24) with 4:22 to play before the break. E&H pushed the lead back to as much as eight before taking a 33-28 advantage into the locker room.
- In the third quarter, Eastern Mennonite closed the gap to just two points with 8:08 on the clock. Up by a 41-43 margin, the Wasps went on a 12-4 run that covered 4:48 for their largest lead of the second half, 45-55. E&H would lead 55-47 with 10 minutes to play.
- The two squads put together small runs and responses throughout the fourth frame. Emory & Henry extended its lead to as much as eight with 4:37 left in the contest (66-58) before EMU cut it to two with 54 seconds to play, 74-72. The Wasps scored the last seven points for the final 81-72 margin.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Sophomore forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) led the Wasps with 19 points on 5-for-9 shooting and added five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block.
- Junior forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) had 19 points of her own with a trio of rebounds while junior guard Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) scored 13 points off the bench with three three-pointers.
- Sophomore forward Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) put up 10 points, three rebounds and two assists while sophomore forward Kara Stafford (Bristol, Tenn.) had seven points, three rebounds and three assists.

Eastern Mennonite Individual Leaders
- Myneshia Walker put up a game-high 27 points on 11-for-23 from the field.
- Lindsey Krisak hit five triples on the way to 17 points and four assists.
- Precious Waddy put up eight points while Chrissy DeLawder had five points, seven rebounds and five assists.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 28-for-62 (45.2%) for the game with nine makes from long range. The Wasps made 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the free throw line.
- Eastern Mennonite hit 46.3 percent (25-for-54) of its field goal attempts, connecting on nine threes. The Royals went 13-for-20 (65%) at the charity stripe.
- EMU held a 33-29 rebounding advantage and led E&H by a 16-14 margin on second-chance points.
- The Wasps continued to be a strong team in the post, outscoring the Royals, 34-20.
- Emory & Henry committed just nine turnovers to EMU's 14 as both squads scored 12 points on their subsequent possessions.
