GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (17-5, 10-3 ODAC) made it three-straight years with at least 10 Old Dominion Athletic Conference wins as it picked up an 63-59 victory over Guilford College (14-6, 8-5 ODAC) Wednesday evening on the road. The Wasps are No. 5 in the first NCAA Division III South Region rankings of the year.

How It Happened
- The game started slow with Guilford taking a 10-6 lead at the end of the first period.
- Emory & Henry took its first lead of the game at the 6:23 mark of the second quarter but GC responded with the next seven points to go up 19-14 with 4:39 to play before the break. The Wasps closed the gap down to a 23-all tie at the intermission.
- Guilford scored seven of the first nine points of the third quarter to lead, 30-25, its largest advantage of the contest. E&H answered the run with a 10-3 scoring spurt to close the frame, leading 41-36 with 10 minutes to play.
- The Wasps took control of the contest early in the fourth period, pushing their margin to 50-40 with 5:15 on the clock. GC was able to cut into the lead and get within two with 1:08 to go, but E&H made all of its free throws down the stretch to preserve the lead and earn the 63-59 victory.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) led all players with 18 points on eight-for-nine shooting and added six rebounds while sophomore forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) had 12 points, six boards, five assists and two blocks.
- Junior guard Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) chipped in nine points off the bench while sophomore forward Kara Stafford (Bristol, Tenn.) contributed six points and 10 rebounds.
- Sophomore forward Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) finished with seven points and four rebounds.
Guilford Individual Leaders
- Miracle Walters put up 16 points and five rebounds to pace the Quakers.
- Lauren Ramsey added 15 points, three rebounds, seven assists and six steals while Essence Abraham notched 11 points and four assists.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry hit 40.4 percent (23-for-57) of its field goal attempt with five three-pointers. The Wasps went 12-for-15 (80%) at the free throw line.
- Guilford shot 25-for-57 (43.9%) for the game with a trio of makes from long range. The Quakers were six-for-nine (66.7%) at the stripe.
- Emory & Henry held a 38-31 rebounding advantage and its 17-13 lead on the offensive glass translated to a 15-9 margin on second-chance points.
- The Quakers led 38-32 on points in the paint and the squads were deadlocked, 16-16, on points off turnovers.
