EMORY, Va. – The No. 21 Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (12-3, 6-3 ODAC) bounced back with a 63-59 victory over the University of Lynchburg (7-9, 5-4 ODAC) Saturday afternoon in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action.

How It Happened
- The first period saw E&H take an early lead, but Lynchburg kept it close with a 16-14 score through 10 minutes of play.
- Down by four early the second, the Hornets went on a 14-3 run to lead 29-22 with 2:26 to go before the break. Emory & Henry scored seven in a row to end the quarter for a 29-all tie at the intermission.
- Returning from the locker room, the Wasps scored nine in a row to take a 38-29 advantage. The Hornets chipped away at the lead to go up 41-40 with 19 second to go in the third, but E&H went into the final period up by one (43-42).
- The game remained a two-possession affair for the first six and a half minutes of the fourth quarter. With the score tied at 53 and 3:46 to go, Emory & Henry went on an 8-2 run to lead 61-55 with 35 seconds left on its way to the 63-59 win.
Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior forward Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) led all players with 21 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double, going 8-for-14 from the field. She also added a pair of blocks.
- Senior guard Tessa Johnston (High Point, N.C.) had 18 points while senior forward Taylor Blevins (Abingdon, Va.) notched six points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Lynchburg Individual Leaders
- Molly Shephard paced the Hornets with 19 points on 8-for-11 shooting, six rebounds and two steals.
- Lizzie Davis put up 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals while Alex Allen and Kate Kolb had eight points each off the bench.
A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry made 22-of-45 (48.9%) of its field goal attempts, connecting on five from beyond the arc. The Wasps struggled at the free throw line, hitting just 48.3 percent (11-of-29) of their free throw attempts.
- Lynchburg hit 39.7 percent (25-of-63) of its shots and only made it to the free throw line 11 times for six points (54.5%).
- On the boards, Lynchburg held a 36-33 advantage, including a 16-9 margin on the offensive glass. E&H made the most of its second chances, outscoring the Hornets, 11-9.
