INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team is the number two-ranked team in the NCAA Division III South Region, NCAA officials announced Wednesday. These are the first rankings of the 2018-19 season which will help determine the 64-team field for March's NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Wasps are one of two programs from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference to be ranked as Guilford College appears at the eight spot in the top nine of South Region teams.

E&H also finds itself returning to the fold of nationally-ranked teams as it was tabbed No. 24 this week by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Emory & Henry (18-3, 11-3 ODAC) has won 11 of its last 12 games and currently sits in second in the ODAC standings. The Wasps have a pair of wins over No. 16 teams this season, opening the year with a 58-56 victory over Marymount University and concluding 2018 with a 76-56 rout of Christopher Newport University.

The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is the top-ranked program in the region. Austin College sits at third while the University of Texas-Dallas and Trinity (Texas) College are fourth and fifth, respectively. Millsaps College (sixth), Oglethorpe University (seventh) and East Texas Baptist University (ninth) round out the poll.

Emory & Henry will host Roanoke College in an ODAC matchup on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two squads this year.
