Emory & Henry’s Taylor Blevins Named All-South Region First Team By D3hoops.com

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – For a second year in a row, the Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team has seen one of its own named all-region by D3hoops.com. Senior forward Taylor Blevins earned First-Team All-South honors from the outlet after being recognized as an All-ODAC performer for the fourth-straight season.

The Abingdon, Virginia native receives recognition from D3hoops.com for the third time in her career. Last season, Blevins was named to the All-South Second Team and following the 2015-16 season, she was tabbed as the South Region Rookie of the Year by the group.

Blevins, who was recently selected to play in the inaugural Beyond Sports Women's Collegiate All-Star Game, led Emory & Henry to a 22-4 record (15-3 ODAC) and a second-place finish in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this season. The Wasps were ranked as high as No. 15 in the country by D3hoops.com and were the No. 2 team in the NCAA Division III South Region for much of the season. Blevins was named to the All-ODAC First Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District V First Team for the second year in a row and became just the second player in program history to earn all-league honors in each of her four years.

Blevins led the Wasps in scoring and rebounding with 13.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. She shot a league-best 56.6 percent from the field averaged 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals per contest. Blevins has reached double figures 21 times during the year including 10 games in a row with a total of three double-doubles.

With all-region recognition, Blevins is now eligible to be named a D3hoops.com All-American.
