Taylor Blevins Named To All-State First Team By VaSID

WINCHESTER, Va. – Emory & Henry College senior forward Taylor Blevins has received yet another postseason honor for her mantelpiece. On Thursday, she was named to the All-State College Division First Team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID).

The Abingdon, Virginia native averaged 13 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this year, shooting 56.6 percent from the field and 76 percent at the free throw line. She put up 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals per outing with a season total of 12 blocks.

Blevins finished her career as the E&H record-holder in field goals made (561) and field goal percentage (55.5%) while sitting second in points (1,403), third in blocked shots (61) and tied for fourth in rebounding (807).

Blevins was also selected as a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American and was named to the All-South Region First Team by D3hoops.com. She is just the second four-time All-ODAC player in program history, and was tabbed as a CoSIDA Academic All-District V First-Teamer for the second year in a row. Blevins was also chosen as one of 20 participants for the inaugural Women's Collegiate All-Star Game, sponsored by Beyond Sports and presented by the WBCA.

Virginia Wesleyan University's Jayla Harris earned Player of the Year accolades while Christopher Newport University's Bill Broderick was tabbed as State Coach of the Year. Leah Calhoun of Mary Baldwin University was recognized as State Rookie of the Year.

The VaSID All-State teams are selected by sports information directors of member institutions of the Virginia Sports Information Directors across the Commonwealth of Virginia. VaSID, founded in 1983, selects teams in two divisions (University and College) for 12 sports and three single-division teams in addition to Academic All-State teams across all sports.
