FOREST, Va. – Emory & Henry College senior forward Sydney McKinney has been selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, ODAC officials announced Monday. It marks the first time in her career that McKinney has received weekly honors from the league.

It is the second week in a row that E&H has seen one of its players recognized by the conference office as senior forward Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) was tabbed as Player of the Week on November 18. The last time the Wasps won back-to-back women's basketball player of the week honors was the first two weekends of December in the 2012-13 season.

The Big Stone Gap, Virginia native led Emory & Henry (5-1, 0-0 ODAC) to a 2-0 mark in non-conference action last week averaging 22 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. She shot 16-for-33 (48.5%) from the field and connected on a trio of three-pointers.

In Thursday's 77-70 overtime win at Piedmont College, McKinney scored 25 points on 9-for-18 shooting and added a 5-for-5 performance at the free throw line. She completed the double-double with 14 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Saturday against Greensboro College, McKinney went for 19 points and 13 rebounds as she added four assists, four steals and three blocks.

For the season, McKinney leads the ODAC in scoring (18.0 ppg), overall points (108), field goals made (41-of-88), free throws made (21-of-30), and offensive rebounds (19). She is second to Williams in rebounding (10.3 rpg), second in steals (2.2 spg) and third in blocked shots (9).

Emory & Henry will open ODAC play on Sunday when it visits Washington and Lee University. Tipoff between the Wasps and Generals will be at 5:00 p.m.
