Emory & Henry Women's Basketball Sees Two Named To D3hoops.com All-South Region Teams

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – For the third year in a row, the Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team is represented on the D3hoops.com All-Region Teams. Senior forwards Sydney McKinney (Big Stone Gap, Va.) and Peyton Williams (Saltville, Va.) earned All-South Region Third Team accolades from the group after they were both recognized as All-ODAC First-Teamers.

The duo led Emory & Henry to a 22-5 record (15-3 ODAC) and the #1 seed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference this season. The Wasps were ranked as the No. 6 team in the NCAA Division III South Region during all four ranking periods of the season. Across their career, E&H boasted its most-successful four-year period on the court, winning 86 games with a .782 winning percentage and securing three-straight 20-win seasons. Emory & Henry also reached the ODAC Tournament Semifinals three times with one appperance in the leagu championship game.

McKinney led the team with 15.1 points per game which was third in the league and added 8.1 rebounds (5th – ODAC), 3.3 assists (8th – ODAC), 2.0 steals (8th – ODAC) and 1.3 blocks per contest (4th – ODAC). She reached double figures in scoring 21 times during the season including a career-high 30 points in the ODAC Tournament Semifinals against Randolph-Macon College. McKinney was named ODAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week twice (Nov. 25, Feb. 18) and recorded the program's second-ever triple-double with 16 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists at Eastern Mennonite University.

Williams, who was also named ODAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 14.0 points per game which was seventh-best in the league. She scored in double figures 21 times on the year with 12 double-doubles, and added a team-best 9.8 rebounds per game (2nd – ODAC), 2.3 steals (5th – ODAC) and 2.6 assists per contest. Williams was honored by the league office as ODAC Player of the Week three times in the first six weeks of the season (Nov. 18, Dec. 2, Dec. 16).

With all-region recognition, McKinney and Williams are now eligible to be named D3hoops.com All-American.
