Emory & Henry Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Randolph, 70-40, Saturday Afternoon

EMORY, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Basketball Team (2-4, 2-3 ODAC) got back on the winning track on Saturday afternoon, defeating Randolph College (1-2, 1-2 ODAC) by a 70-40 score in Old Dominion Athletic Conference action. All 12 players who dressed for the Wasps put their name in the scoring column.

How It Happened
- After four minutes of scoreless play to open the game, the two squads traded baskets to a 4-4 lead. Emory &Henry then reeled off 10 straight for a 14-4 advantage through the first period.
- A three-pointer for the WildCats to start the second closed the gap to 14-7 but E&H scored the next 16 to lead by a 30-7 margin with 2:30 to go before the half. Another triple by Randolph and a pair of free throws by the Wasps made the 32-10 margin at intermission.
- Coming out of the break, Randolph went on a 12-3 run to get within 13, 35-22, with 6:04 on the clock. The teams went shot-for-shot for the remainder of the period with E&H extending its lead back to 18 (52-34) with 10 minutes to play.
- The final period was all Emory & Henry as it opened with a 9-0 run to push the margin to 27. The Wasps would lead by as many as 32 in the final minute as the WildCats notched the last basket of the game for the 70-40 final score.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Junior center Alexis Hoppers (Sparta, N.C.) led all players with 17 points and completed the double-double with 12 rebounds. She also added four assists, three steals and a block.
- Senior guard Josie Salyer (Mount Carmel, Tenn.) had eight points while freshman forward Brianna Hogan (Front Royal, Va.) posted eight points and six rebounds.
- Junior forward Tori Powers (Gate City, Va.) tacked on eight points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks while sophomore guard Claudia Frost (Damascus, Va.) went for eight points and three assists.

Randolph Individual Leaders
- Kylie Stark paced the WildCats with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists while Cameron O'Neil had 11 points and two steals.
- Imani Reid tacked on six points, six rebounds and three steals.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry hit 48.3 percent (28-of-58) of its field goals and connected on nine three-pointers on the afternoon. The Wasps assisted on 22 of their 28 made baskets for a 78.6 percent assist ratio.
- Randolph made just 12 field goals on the day, shooting 23.1 percent from the floor and 22.7 percent from beyond the arc. The WildCats went 11-for-18 (61.1%) at the free throw line.
- E&H held a 43-29 rebounding advantage and outscored Randolph, 36-8, on points in the paint.
- The Wasps' bench also outscored their WildCat counterpart by a 37-8 margin.
