No. 12 Coker Women’s Basketball Pulls Away From Emory & Henry, 88-59, Saturday Afternoon

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The No. 12 Coker University Women's Basketball Team (21-1, 17-1 SAC) rolled to an 88-59 South Atlantic Conference win over visiting Emory & Henry University (6-19, 1-18 SAC) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
- Coker scored the first seven points of the game but Emory & Henry reeled off 14 in a row to lead, 14-7, at the 4:55 mark of the opening period. The Cobras closed on an 11-6 run to make it a 20-18 contest through one.
- The first half of the second quarter saw Coker retake the lead, 24-20, with 6:12 on the clock. The Cobras finished the half on a 16-6 run to lead 40-31 at the intermission.
- Returning to action, Coker scored nine of the first 11 points to push its lead to 15 points (48-33) within the first 2:18. A 9-2 run by the Cobras to close the quarter made it a 60-41 contest.
- Coker scored 16 of the first 18 points of the fourth period to make it a 76-43 game. The Cobras cruised through the finals six minutes of the contest for the 88-59 win.  

Emory & Henry Leaders
- Junior forward Breanna Yarber (Meadowview, Va.) had a team-high 16 points on 8-for-11 shooting to go along with three rebounds while sophomore forward Gracyn Hall (Randleman, N.C.) went for 13 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Senior guard Hannah Spainhour (King, N.C.) scored nine points and added seven rebounds and three assists as sophomore guard Rhyan Harris (Salem, Va.) went for seven points, three boards and two steals off the bench.

Coker Individual Leaders
- Mya Wasswa led all players with 21 points, tacking on five steals, four rebounds and three assists while Shawnteanna Tillman went for 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
- Mariah Mitchem had 11 points, three rebounds and three assists as Cayanna Stanley chipped in 11 points off the bench.

A Deeper Look
- Emory & Henry shot 44.0 percent (22-for-50) on the afternoon with nine three-pointers. The Wasps went 6-for-9 (66.7%) at the free throw line.
- Coker made 33-of-67 (49.3%) of its attempts from the floor, connecting on nine shots from long range. The Cobras hit 72.2 percent (13-of-18) of their chances from the stripe.
- CU held a 34-27 rebounding advantage and outscored E&H by a 38-20 margin on points in the paint.
- The Cobras forced 30 Wasp miscues and posted a 32-9 lead on points off turnovers. Coker also led, 21-0, on fastbreak points.
