Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Wins At Home Tournament Friday

Emory & Henry won its first-ever tournament title with a victory at the Emory & Henry Women's Fall Classic Friday.

ABINGDON, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team earned its first-ever tournament win on Friday at the Emory & Henry Women's Fall Classic. The Wasps put two players in the top four led by sophomore Ashley Underwood (Strawberry Plains, Tenn.), who was the individual runner-up.

Emory & Henry
- Underwood paced the team, shooting a +29 (101) to take second overall while freshman Sierra Giramma (Sanford, Fla.) carded a 110 (+38) to finish fourth and also earn "most improved" from SVU's Knights Classic last weekend.
- Freshman Chandler Thomas (Unaka, Tenn.) was sixth with a 122 while junior Laura Mister (Herndon, Va.) rounded out the team with a 133, placing eighth.

The Winners
- Southern Virginia University's Bailey Rusick posted a 94 (+22) for medalist honors.
- The Wasps won the event with a score of 466 (+178) over Hollins University (525; +237) and Sweet Briar College (615; +327).

Up Next
- Emory & Henry has now completed the fall portion of its schedule and will next play in March to open the spring season.
