Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Competes At UMW Eagle Invitational Over The Weekend

STAFFORD, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team competed at the Eagle Invitational, hosted by the University of Mary Washington over the weekend.

Round One
- Sophomore Ashley Underwood (Strawberry Plains, Tenn.) led the Wasps on Saturday, shooting a 108 (+37) while freshman Sierra Giramma (Sanford, Fla.) carded a +45 (116).
- Freshman Chandler Thomas (Unaka, Tenn.) shot a 125 while junior Laura Mister (Herndon, Va.) turned in a 130.

Round Two
- Giramma put up a +37 (108) on Sunday to finish in a tie for 21st (+82) while Thomas dropped 14 strokes from her first round to card a 111 (+40) in round two to finish 24th (+94).
- Mister shot a 137 to end the tournament in 29th place (+125). Underwood was forced to withdraw due to illness.

The Winners
- York (Pa.) College earned the team championship, shooting a +157 (358-367 – 725) for the tournament with three of the top six golfers. Shenandoah University was second while Washington & Jefferson College finished third.
- Emma Harding of York claimed medalist honors by eight strokes with a 166 (+24). Olivia Longacre of Eastern Mennonite University was second at +32 (174).

- Emory & Henry will return to action on Friday, April 6 at the Hollins Invitational in Roanoke, Virginia.
