Emory & Henry Men’s & Women’s Golf Conclude Action At Hiwassee Spring Invitational

KODAK, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Men's & Women's Golf Teams once again took to the course in unseasonably cold conditions Tuesday at the Hiwassee Spring Invitational. The women finished in a tie for second place while the men finished fifth.

The Men
- Sophomore Wesley Jones (Seymour, Tenn.) erased 10 strokes from Monday to shoot a 78, moving up six places to finish sixth (+22) while sophomore Blake Benson (Knoxville, Tenn.) also moved up six places to earn his first-career top-10 finish (+25) with a round of 79.
- Junior Carlos Andrade (Guayaquil, ECUADOR) leapt seven spots with a round of 79 to finish 14th overall and third on the team (+29) while sophomore Isfandyar Khan (Lahore, PAKISTAN) ended the tournament tied for 19th (+37). Sophomore Hunter Watson (Jonesville, Va.) broke into the top 25, shooting three strokes better than Monday.
- Tyler Smith of Bob Jones University claimed medalist honors despite dropping five shots on the field (+11) as he edged Kevin Knudsen of Bryan College (+12).  Bryan and Bob Jones tied for the team championship at +94.

The Women
- Junior Ashley Underwood (Strawberry Plains, Tenn.) carved six strokes off her Monday score to move up one place and finish with her third career top-five at +62 (206).
- Sophomore Chandler Thomas (Elizabethton, Tenn.) shot a 116 on Tuesday to finish tied for sixth (+72) while senior Laura Mister (Herndon, Va.) shaved nine shots to move up one place, earning her second  top 10 (8th; +73).
- Junior Skylar Hill (Meadowview, Va.) finished 12th in the tournament after shooting a 120 on Tuesday.
- Kate Matthews of Bob Jones University won the event by eight shots with a score of +23. Rio Grande took the team title at +111 (383-399 – 782).

Up Next
- The Emory & Henry women will face Carroll (Wis.) University in a dual match on Tuesday, March 12 at the Barefoot Landing Resort in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
- The Wasp men will step back into action in a dual against the University of Dubuque at Barefoot Landing on Wednesday, March 13. The women's teams from E&H and UD will also square off to make it a double-dual.
