Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Continues Its Season At UVA-Wise Invitational Monday

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team kept its season rolling on Monday at the UVA-Wise Invitational. The Wasps continue to improve with every round they play this spring.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) set a new Emory & Henry record for a single round, shooting an 83 (+12) to beat the previous best by four strokes. She finished the tournament tied for 12th.

Freshman McKenna Quillen (Abingdon, Va.) posted a new collegiate best, carding a +26 (97) to finish tied for 26th overall.

The Leaders
Tusculum University's Nilubol Panno and University of Pikeville's Boo Newsome tied for medalist honors at 72 (+1). Alayna Perryman of Pikeville was third three shots back +4 (75).

TU claimed the team title with a +24 (308), placing three golfers in the top five. Milligan University was the team runner-up after carding a 319 (+35) on the day.

Up Next
The Wasps will be back in action next Monday at The Mountain Empire Intercollegiate, hosted by Milligan.
