Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Finishes Second At The Bruins Golf Classic Saturday

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team picked up its first hardware of the season on Saturday, finishing as the runner-up team at the Bruins Golf Classic, hosted by Bob Jones University. The Wasps also saw two of their players finish in the top 10 at fourth and tied for sixth.

Emory & Henry
Freshman Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) shot an 84 (+13) on Saturday, falling one spot to fourth overall while sophomore Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) jumped three spots with her round of 84 to finish tied for sixth.

Freshman Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) carded a +20 (91) in round two, to complete the tournament in 11th place while sophomore McKenna Quillen (Abingdon, Va.) carved 12 strokes off her Friday total to shoot an 84 (+13) and finish tied for 12th overall.

Freshman Maggie Jolly (Troutman, N.C.) shaved 14 strokes off of her round one score, coming in with a 98 to move into 20th for the event.

The Winners
Spartanburg Methodist College's Jessica Edwards grabbed medalist honors, notching a +9 (80) on Saturday to win the event by three strokes (79-80 – 159; +17). Amani Narang of Sweet Briar College and Alisa Marie Caraballo of Byran College tied for runner-up honors at +20.

SMC won the tournament with a score of +120 (346-342 – 688) as Emory & Henry was second just eight shots back at +128 (353-343 – 696).

Up Next
The Wasps return to action in the King University Invitational on Monday, September 27 and Tuesday, September 28. The tournament, which will be held at the Golf Club of Bristol in Bristol, Tennessee, will also feature the E&H men's team.
