Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Takes Third At The Nick England Memorial Invitational Monday

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team finished third out of five competing teams and as the top NCAA Division II squad at the Nick England Memorial Invitational Monday. The Wasps' team score of 345 was the second-best in program history, just two shots off the record of 343.

Emory & Henry
Sophomore McKenna Quillen (Abingdon, Va.) led the way as she shot an 84 (+13) to finish tied for 16th while sophomore Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) posted a +14 (85) which was good for T-18th.

Freshman Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) finished 21st overall as she notched an 87 (+16) while freshman Reece Chasteen (Lake City, Fla.) carded a +18 (89) to tie for 22nd. Freshman Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) was 30th overall after shooting a 97 (+26).

The Winners
Emma Brown of Milligan University won the event with an even-par score of 71, beating teammates Sarah Castle and Gabby Hammond by one stroke.

The Lady Buffaloes' "B" Team grabbed the team championship at an even 300 (+16) beating the MU "A" Team by four shots.

Up Next
E&H will conclude the fall portion of its schedule at the end of the month when it hosts the Buzz Off Invitational on Saturday, October 30 and Sunday, October 31. The event will feature both a men's and women's tournament and will take place at Glenrochie Country Club in Abingdon, Virginia.
