Emory & Henry Women’s Golf Wins Alice Lloyd Spring Invitational Sunday

RICHMOND, Ky. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Golf Team earned its second event win of the year and its fifth top-two team finish on Sunday at the Alice Lloyd Spring Invitational. The Wasps claimed the team title while grabbing the top three spots with all five of their golfers finishing in the top 10.

Round One
Sophomore Katie Hall (Abingdon, Va.) carded a program-record round of 70 on Saturday, becoming the first E&H player to shoot under par at -2. Her round was good for a 10-stroke lead after 18 holes of play.

Junior Briah Frisbee (Leicester, N.C.) posted an 81 (+9) to sit in third place while senior Emily Smelcer (Walland, Tenn.) turned in an 82 (+10) which was good for fifth.

Freshman Abby Bradley (Castlewood, Va.) shot an 84 (+12) for sixth place with junior Lexi Humbert (Greeneville, Tenn.) tying for 20th at 90 (+18).

Round Two
Hall completed her wire-to-wire victory on Sunday with a 77 (+5) for a two-day score of +3 (70-77 – 147). Bradley moved up five places into a tie for second with the only other round in the 70s at 78 (+6) to finish +18 (84-78 – 162).

Frisbee shared the runner-up honors with Bradley, posting an 81 (+9) on Sunday, also finishing at +18. Smelcer placed sixth after carding a +12 (84) in round two, finishing at +22 (82-84 – 166) while Humbert carved 10 strokes off her first round to leap 11 spots into a tie for ninth with a +8 (80) to end the tournament with a score of 170 (90-80 – +26).

The Winners
Hall had the best two rounds of the event, winning by 15 strokes over Bradley and Frisbee.

E&H won the team title with a score of +57 (317-316 – 633) for the fourth-best team total in program history. Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College was 40 strokes back as the team runner-up at +97 (673).

Up Next
Emory & Henry will close out the regular season on Tuesday, April 2 when it competes in the Northeast Tennessee Spring Shootout. The 36-hole event hosted by Milligan University will be played at Johnson City Country Club in Johnson City, Tennessee.
