Emory & Henry Women's Lacrosse Falls To Emmanuel (Ga.) In Non-Conference Action Saturday

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Emmanuel (Ga.) University Women's Lacrosse Team (4-0) defeated Emory & Henry College (0-4) in non-conference play Saturday afternoon. The Lions had seven different players find the back of the net as they earned the win by a 22-2 final score.

How It Happened
- The Lions wasted no time as they struck first just 36 seconds into the contest. They would continue to pour it on, tallying six more goals in the first quarter for a 7-0 advantage.
- Emmanuel replicated their first quarter output in the second stanza as the Lions scored seven more times to take a 14-0 lead into the halftime break.
- The home team pushed its advantage out to as many as 18-0 with just under five minutes remaining until junior attacker Mina Hicks (Lexington Park, Md.) broke up the scoring run with an unassisted goal, her first as a Wasp.
- Emmanuel scored the first four markers of the final quarter to run the margin out to 22-1. Sophomore midfielder Justyce Jones (Jacksonville, N.C.) slotted a shot past the goalkeeper on an assist from freshman midfielder Cadence Spaulding (Christiansburg, Va.) just before time expired to run the score to its final at 22-2. 

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Hicks paced the Wasps with a goal, one ground ball and three draw controls. Jones added one goal and three draw controls while Spaulding had team-highs with three ground balls, three caused turnovers and an assist.
- Junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Evans (Gambrills, Md.) finished with eight saves in net for E&H.

Emmanuel (Ga.) Individual Leaders
- Paige Murphy led the Lions with a game-high six goals, three assists, five draw controls, five caused turnovers and two ground balls. Mikaela Austin added five goals and an assist while Lauren Kuschel had five assists, three goals, four draw controls, one ground ball and a caused turnover.

- E&H continues its road trip on Saturday, February 24 when the Wasps travel to take on the Anderson (S.C.) University Trojans for the first South Atlantic Conference match in program history. First draw is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from Spero Financial Field.
