Emory & Henry Women’s Lacrosse Falls To UVA Wise In Southwest Virginia Showdown

WISE, Va. – The Emory & Henry College Women's Lacrosse Team (1-10, 0-5 SAC) dropped its South Atlantic Conference road match against the University of Virginia's College at Wise (5-6, 2-3 SAC) Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers topped the Wasps by a 18-2 final.

How It Happened
- The Cavaliers got out on the front foot, as they tallied six goals in the opening 15 minutes of play to establish a 6-0 lead. Wise continued to push the pace, scoring seven more in the second quarter to take a 13-0 advantage into the halftime break.
- The home team continued its streak of goals with three straight to begin the second half. Junior attacker Mina Hicks (Lexington Park, Md.) broke up the shut out at the 5:30 mark with her 19th goal of the season as she converted from a free-position opportunity. Wise closed out the third quarter with two more goals, but Hicks struck again with 8:47 to play in the fourth as she buried a shot off of an assist from freshman attacker Avery McHargue (Weaverville, N.C.) to bring the score to its final at 18-2.

Emory & Henry Individual Leaders
- Hicks finished with two goals, a team-high four draw controls, one ground ball and a caused turnover. Sophomore midfielder Justyce Jones (Jacksonville, N.C.) had two draw controls and a pair of ground balls while freshman midfielder Cadence Spaulding (Christiansburg, Va.) posted two ground balls, one caused turnover and one draw control.
- Freshman goalkeeper Madison Rossi-Dupas (Kingston, Tenn.) recorded 10 saves and a pair of ground balls in goal for the Wasps.

UVA Wise Individual Leaders
- Noley Hiller paced the Cavaliers with four goals and a ground ball while Grace Golatt and Mallory Trimble each registered three goals.
- Addie Donalson had two saves and Olivia Toomer had one in the win for UVA Wise.

Up Next
- The Wasps return home to Fred Selfe Stadium on Saturday, March 30 when they host nationally-ranked Limestone University. First draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
